If you don’t want this beautiful picture of Steve Irwin holding a baby platypus on your blog then I’m sorry but I don’t know what you’re doing with your life.

My heart cries.

Cats who can’t figure out walls [x]

PLEASE TAKE YOUR CAT TO THE VET IF YOU SEE THEM DOING THIS BEHAVIOR OVER TIME.

It’s called “head pressing” and it occurs in dogs and cats.

Head pressing is characterized by the compulsive act of pressing the head against a wall or other object for no apparent reason. This generally indicates damage to the nervous system, which may result from a number of varying causes, including prosencephalon disease (in which the forebrain and thalamusparts of the brain are damaged), or toxic poisoning.

I wasn’t going to reblog this until I read the important caption dang thank you!!!

YOU JUST SAVED THE LIFE OF MY CAT THANK YOU!

SPREAD THIS LIKE WILDFIRE. THIS COULD SAVE YOUR KITTIE’S LIFE!

While I really appreciate the compliment (and I do love being people’s favorites!) I do want to emphasize something that I think the majority of Western civilization needs to realize:

Thinking of characters as non-white shouldn’t be revolutionary. It just shouldn’t. We have this “assumed-white-until-proven-otherwise” mentality, and it is beyond harmful. People flipped out when others started headcanoning Harry Potter as half-black, even though nowhere in the entirety of the seven books does it say that Harry is white.

As a white person, I have to make an effort to not fall into this mentality. Every white person should make the effort to not fall into this mentality. Are you a writer? Make your characters diverse. Are you an artist? Draw your characters as diverse as the world. Make a difference. Represent people, not just who you are.

I hope that one day, and one day soon a white person imagining a character as Indian won’t bring anyone to tears. I hope it will just be normal. I hope that maybe, maybe representation will be a thing we have, not a thing we have to fight for.

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you’re crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us. In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
